Building upon the introduction of both innovation seminar series, we are establishing a series of experiential innovation workshops. Participants work side-by-side with invited external innovation leaders and entrepreneurs in hands-on design and problem solving exercises to hone their skills. Workshop topics encompass the four Innovation Discipline Domains: Industry, Entrepreneurship, Academia, and Regulatory, providing for a balanced training experience. For example, the regulatory Innovation Workshops will include both case study approaches and team activities addressing current translational projects. One such workshop could be a case study on Cohera Medical’s TissueGlu™ surgical adhesive that spun out of Pitt, since the innovators for this product faced early translational challenges involving regulatory-based hurdles.
