The Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) at the University of Pittsburgh is pleased to announce the ProtoHypeTM competition, a collaboration with TechShop Pittsburgh. ProtoHypeTM Challenge was established to facilitate the creation of medical devices and biomedical research tools to advance healthcare and research.

CTSI's ProtoHypeTM team is leveraging the diverse expertise at TechShop Pittsburgh to assist investigators at the University of Pittsburgh with development of medical prototypes. TechShop is part fabrication and prototyping studio, part hackerspace and part learning center. TechShop provides access to over $1 million worth of professional equipment and software. The facility includes laser cutters, plastics and electronics labs, a machine shop, a wood shop, a metal working shop, a textiles department, welding stations and a waterjet cutter.
