CTSI can add value to your research project. To understand why, consider CTSI’s origin and mission.
CTSI—or, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute—was established by the University of Pittsburgh in 2006 as a result of its selection by the National Institutes of Health as one of the pioneer institutions funded by the Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program.
The purpose of this nationwide consortium of leading research centers is to facilitate the translation of biomedical research advances into clinical and public health practice and policy. In other words, research is at the very heart of what CTSI is all about.
Being able to identify yourself as an investigator based at a CTSA-funded institution should enhance your proposal because the funding agency will recognize the reputation and the intensity of the research culture in which you operate.
Some requests for applications specify that funding is limited to CTSA institutions. However, it’s an advantage to all University researchers to indicate in any application that Pitt is one such institution—that it has been, in fact, since the CTSA Program began—and that, as a consequence, specialized resources are available to you in the process of preparing your grant application, preparing and conducting your study, and presenting the results.
If you need information about the specific resources that would be most appropriate for your project—from study design, statistical analysis, and data management assistance to help with regulatory requirements and submissions, to name just a few—and how to utilize these resources, contact a CTSI research facilitator at 412-383-1171, 412-383-1036 or ctsi@pitt.edu.
