To staff your clinical research team, spread the word through all of your professional contacts about the types of positions you want to fill. Networking can—and often is—one of the most effective ways of filling jobs. Keep in mind that because of the University’s close ties with its clinical partner, UPMC, many of the clinical settings around campus fall under UPMC’s hiring umbrella, while others are under Pitt’s jurisdiction. It’s up to you as the principal investigator to determine whether you need to deal with the University’s Office of Human Resources or UPMC’s. Jobs available through the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC are posted on their respective Web sites. Note that CTSI doesn’t post research positions, but CTSI staff members may know of some people looking for certain positions or may have ideas about where you can find the right people. (Remember: networking!)
