When an agency decides to fund a project, it will send a Notice of Grant Award to the University’s Office of Research, which will forward a copy to the Office of Research Accounting, where an account will be activated.
Along with the Notice of Grant Award, the Office of Research Accounting will receive a completed and signed Sponsored Programs Proposal Submission Form (Form 0136), a completed Sponsored Programs Detailed Award Budget (Form 0202), and any other relevant correspondence concerning the project’s financial administration. (A researcher can file a Request for Approval for Early Account Number [Form 0146] with the Office of Research if a grant allows spending prior to the grant start date or if grant processing runs past the grant start date.)
For grant funds to be processed and released, all individuals named on the grant must be compliant with University guidelines for research integrity training. In addition, all regulatory agency certifications and University-based certifications (IRB, IACUC, rDNA, etc.) must be current.
