Statistical Services and Consulting
The Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design (BERD) Core provides statistical and study design consultations, and researcher-focused mentoring and training.
The BERD core, housed in the Graduate School of Public Health, offers services such as:
BERD services are available to researchers at the University of Pittsburgh including Fellows and Medical Students, although the core prioritizes requests from junior investigators.
Consultation of up to ten hours of support per project is provided at no cost to the researcher.
To enhance the efficiency and productivity of the meeting it is suggested that researchers come to the initial meeting with their hypotheses and primary outcome. For data analysis please have the de-identified data and the data dictionary available.
If the project exceeds ten hours, plans for additional time and resources will be discussed.
For work on any grant application, the BERD must be contacted two months before any departmental or school submission deadline. Likewise for any abstract or presentation, the BERD must be contacted two months before any submission deadline.
