Statistical Services and Consulting
The Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design (BERD) Core provides statistical and study design consultations, and researcher-focused mentoring and training.
The BERD core, housed in the Graduate School of Public Health, offers services to researchers at all stages of the research spectrum. Services include:
BERD services are available to all researchers at the University of Pittsburgh, although the core prioritizes requests from junior investigators.
Consultation of up to ten hours of support per project is provided at no cost to the researcher.
To enhance the efficiency and productivity of the meeting it is suggested that researchers come to the initial meeting with their hypotheses and primary outcome. For data analysis please have the de-identified data and the data dictionary available.
If the project exceeds ten hours, plans for additional time and resources will be discussed.
For work on any grant application, the BERD must be contacted two months before any departmental or school submission deadline. Likewise for any abstract or presentation, the BERD must be contacted two months before any submission deadline.
The Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design (BERD) Core of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) is now accepting applications for the Quantitative Methodologies Pilot Program (QuMP). This funding opportunity is designed to support research that involves interdisciplinary and translational use of quantitative methodologies, such as statistics, biostatistics, and epidemiology. Projects must either involve the novel use of an already existing quantitative methodology or the development of a new quantitative methodology.
